Masai Testimonies
Peter Yohana - his testimony (he is on the left in the picture above. This was taken at his graduation from Bible College in 2018).
My name is Peter Yohana. I was born on 5th September 1989 at Ngorongoro district in Arusha region. I completed my primary education in 2008. Then I travelled to Mwanza to seek for a job working as a guard at night. I got a job. While working I heard about the Masai School where my fellow Masai who do not know to read and write were attending for learning. One day I went with my fellow Masai who were attending for learning regularly. I found Pastor James Shija in the class teaching how to read Swahili language. The subjects which were being taught are Bible knowledge, English, Mathematics and Kiswahili. Since I knew how to read and write Swahili, I was interested in Bible knowledge and English. As I continued to attend the class Pastor Shija welcomed us to attend to church on Sunday. One Sunday I decided to attend to church.
How I became a Christian
I came to believe in Jesus during the seminar which was conducted during the evening after a Sunday service. The message preached convicted my heart and I believed in Jesus Christ as my Lord and personal savior. Since I originate from a non-Christian family, my faith in Jesus was not recognized by my family. As I continued to attend the class for Bible knowledge, my heart was touched to study more of the word of God. In 2013 I asked the pastor to help me to get money for fees so that I can join Bible school for further studies in the word of God. God opened the way through the church of Light Church from UK where I got fees for Bible College. I joined Bible College in 2015 and completed in 2018. I now serve the Lord at Nyasaka local church. I do teach children and my fellow Masai the word of God. I give thanks to God for saving me. My prayer is for God to use me for His glory.
AMEN
